Benihana Quick Overview and Locations

The origins of Benihana date back to a Japanese samurai warrior who opened a small coffee shop in Tokyo.

He set his cafe apart from the rest by serving real sugar, which was hard to come by. Yunosuke Aoki had to ride his bike more than 20 miles to purchase the sugar for his shop.

In the years that followed, Rocky used that same determination and hard earned restaurant experience to open the first Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant in America. It was 1964. He hired chefs with top knife skills who could entertain guests.

Within 10 years, there were six locations in the US. Rocky Aoki’s dream continues to this day. There are now more than 70 Benihana restaurants operating across the US, Caribbean, and Central and South America.

Find a Benihana near you and get ready for a delicious meal and a unique dining experience.
