Carl’s Jr. Allergen Guide

Three Carl's Jr. sandwiches and chicken stars.

Before you place an order for a Western Bacon Cheeseburger or a big Angus Famous Star combo meal, review this reference guide for the list of declared allergens in each menu item at Carl’s Jr. fast food restaurant.

An overview of FDA allergen reporting guidelines is published at the end of this report. If you’re not familiar with the details, the FDA has identified nine major allergens: eggs, fish, milk, sesame, soy, shellfish, nuts, tree nuts, and wheat.

Allergen information in this guide is based on standard formulations (excluding any substitutions or additional toppings) for menu items available at locations in the United States.

Menu items may vary by location due to any differences in suppliers as well as the availability of ingredients in select regions or for seasonal changes. Ask the manager to confirm food allergens at that specific restaurant.

Food may be processed in a facility that prepares foods that contain any and/or all of the major food allergens. Moreover, menu items are prepped, cooked, and served in common kitchens and eating areas. Fast food restaurants cannot guarantee food safety because even foods made without major allergens may come in contact with allergens due to cross contamination.

What are Food Allergens?

Federal regulations have identified nine major food allergens: eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soybeans, tree nuts, and wheat.

Note that federal regulation exempts highly refined oil, even if derived from one of the major food allergen groups. Therefore, highly refined soybean oil is not considered a common allergen.

It’s important to note that certain foods may be prepared or cooked using shared equipment.

Fried foods, for example, are cooked in common oil. As such, foods made without a declared food allergen may come into contact with allergens through cross-contamination.
