Jimmy John’s Slim 5: Nutrition and Calories

Meat and cheese Slim 5 sandwich from Jimmy John's restaurant

As with all of the Slim sandwiches on the Jimmy John’s menu, the Slim 5 is a simple sandwich made with meat and cheese on your choice of bread. The Slim 5 includes salami, capocollo, and provolone cheese.

You can also add other toppings to satisfy your taste preferences by ordering add-ons (generally for an additional fee) such as avocado or other vegetables.

In this post, we provide an easy to follow overview of the nutrition facts, including calories, in the Slim 5 sandwich.

Nutrition Facts and Allergens

Nutrition facts are based on a single serving, which is measured as one sandwich. The totals vary based on whether your choice of sandwich is a regular 8″ or a giant 16″.

Calories in Jimmy John’s Slim 5

There are 630 calories in an 8″ Jimmy John’s Slim 5 on French Bread. If you order the sandwich on sliced wheat, total calories decrease to 560.

A Giant 16″ sub served on fresh-baked French bread has 1,260 calories. About 45% of calories are derived from Carbs, 32% from Fat, and 23% from Protein.

For comparison purposes, the standard measure of nutrition facts are based on a daily diet of 2,000 calories. That number of calories may not be the right level for you. It’s a baseline used by the FDA when determining a daily value by nutrient.

Using that baseline, one 8″ Slim 5 sandwich delivers 30% of the total daily calories. The Giant, at 1,260 calories, is over 60%.

Reduced Calorie Slim 5 Sandwich

For a reduced calorie, lower carb version of the Slim 5, consider ordering the Jimmy John’s Unwich®. The Unwich substitutes lettuce for the bread, which reduces total calories to 280, less than half the calories of a traditional 8″ sub.

Sodium

We believe the amount of sodium is something you should take note of when considering whether or not to order the Jimmy John’s Slim 5 for lunch.

In the smaller 8″ sandwich, there are over 1,900 milligrams of sodium. That is nearly the total sodium limit for an entire day, as recommended by the FDA for an individual on a 2,000 calorie daily diet.

The amount of sodium doubles in the giant 16″ sub sandwich. There are nearly 4,000 milligrams of sodium, 165% of the daily value. That is significant.

  • A Giant 16″ Slim 5 contains 3,960mg of sodium.
