  • Carbs: 85 calories

Fat

Four OREO Thins chocolate sandwich cookies contain 6 grams of total fat, including 2 grams of saturated fat. That’s 10% of the daily value of saturated fat recommended by the FDA.

Sugars

Of the 21 grams of carbohydrates, 12 grams are sugars. Moreover, all of the sugars are added sugars.

Added Sugars

The FDA recommends Americans follow the guidelines that limit added sugars to 10% or less of total calories consumed each day. Each serving of OREO Thins has 24% of the daily value (based on a 2,000 calorie diet).

For example, if I eat 1,250 calories, I should limit the amount of added sugars to 31 grams (125 calories).

Based on the example above, here is how to calculate that limit.

  • 10% of 1,250 = 125 calorie limit from added sugars
  • 1 gram of sugar = 4 calories
  • 125 calories / 4 calories per gram = 31.25 grams max per day

Of course, we all have our own individual dietary needs so that’s just an example. Now you can calculate your own estimated daily value based on the number of calories in your diet. Consult your physician for specific medical or dietary advice.

  • The 12g of Added Sugars in one serving is 24% of the Daily Value (based on a 2,000 calorie diet).

Ingredients and Allergens

Ingredients

There are ten main ingredients in OREO cookies. Here is the complete list of ingredients in OREO Thins sandwich cookies.

Sugar, Unbleached Enriched Flour, Palm and/or Canola Oil, Cocoa processed with alkali, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Baking Soda, Chocolate, Artificial Flavor

  • Unbleached Enriched Flour contains wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine mononitrate (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), and folic acid.

First Ingredient is Sugar

As we mentioned above, there are 12 grams of added sugars. Check the list of ingredients above and you will see that sugar is listed first. The position is important because packaged foods in the U.S. must list ingredients in order of dominance by weight.

In addition, high fructose corn syrup is used to make the OREO cookies.

Nabisco doesn’t print a sub-list so I don’t have the specific ingredients in the chocolate. Therefore, I don’t know if the chocolate contains any added sugar.

Allergens

OREO Thins cookies are made with soy and wheat.
