Ingredients and Allergens
Ingredients
Here is the list of ingredients used to make the Roasted Vegetable Ritz Crackers.
Unbleached Enriched Flour, Canola Oil, Palm Oil, Sugar, Dehydrated Vegetable Blend, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Salt, Wheat Gluten, Leavening (baking soda and/or calcium phosphate), Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Tomato Powder, Soy Lecithin, Spice (contains parsley), Lactic Acid.
My Opinion
The one ingredient I was surprised to see on this list is high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). HFCS is a liquid form of table sugar. I understand there are plenty of recipes that balance savory and sweet, but I wasn’t expecting to see HFCS in Ritz Crackers.
I’m not saying the 1 gram of sugar in these crackers is a concern. But, I do know it’s not a good idea to consume an excessive amount of high fructose corn syrup.
So I pay attention when I see foods that include HFCS. Especially in otherwise salty snacks when it’s unexpected.
Allergens
The roasted vegetable Ritz crackers are made with soy and wheat.
