Subway Menu Allergen Guide

Two footlong Subway sandwiches with text listing major food allergens.

This is your quick reference guide to the list of declared allergens in Subway menu items. Before ordering your next meal, review the list of breads, wraps, meats, cheeses, and veggie options made with eggs, milk, soy, wheat, sesame, fish, or nuts.

Read through to the final section of this allergen report for a list of foods and drinks made without any allergens.

Which Foods are Considered Allergens?

Restaurants declare ingredients as an allergen based on United States FDA guidelines.

The nine major food allergens are eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soybeans, tree nuts, and wheat.

A subset of foods are exempted from federal regulation. Certain refined oils, for example, are not considered a common allergen because studies have shown that the oils can be safely consumed by individuals with food allergies.

That said, Subway does indicate foods made with highly refined soybean oil.

It’s important to understand that declared allergens refer to ingredients directly used in making a food product. However, fast food meals are prepared in common areas with shared equipment.

As a result, any food (including menu items made without any allergens), may come in contact or contain allergens due to cross contamination.
