Taco Bell Menu: Gluten Free Options

Read this guide for a list of gluten-free options at Taco Bell fast food restaurant.

Gluten is not one of the major allergens regulated by the FDA. However, Taco Bell provides a great deal of transparency into its menu and reports which burritos, tacos, and other items are made with ingredients that contain gluten.

This reference guide lists Taco Bell menu items made without gluten listed as an ingredient. Use this report for reference and informational purposes only.

Gluten-Friendly Options

Menu items that do not contain gluten may not meet the definition of gluten-free for individuals with celiac disease or those who have a high level of gluten sensitivity. Taco Bell does not recommend its products for customers with celiac disease.

Taco Bell food is prepared in common kitchen areas with limited space. Foods are prepped and cooked using shared equipment and oil that may also be used for meals containing dairy, soy, wheat, or other common allergens, including gluten.

Due to the risk of cross-contamination, there is no guarantee that any foods or beverages are 100% free of gluten.

Summary of FDA Guidelines

Federal regulations cover nine major food allergens: eggs, fish, milk, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soybeans, tree nuts, and wheat.

Highly refined oil, even if derived from one of the major food allergen groups, is exempted from regulation. As such, highly refined soybean oil is not considered a common allergen.

Staff at fast food chains prepare food in a shared kitchen and cook with grills and fryers that are used for multiple items, which may include gluten-containing foods. Fried food products may be cooked in common fryer oil.

As such, foods made without any of the major allergens may come into contact with or contain trace amounts of allergens through cross contamination.
