  1. The text says Triscuits contain 3 ingredients but the “Ingredients” label on the package is not shown. Store-brand woven wheat crackers contain TBHQ. Do Triscuits also contain this additive?

    1. You’re right. Many packaged crackers and snacks, including generic brands, Cheez-Its, Pop Tarts, and even Rice Krispies treats contain TBHQ.

Fast food menu items such as Applebee’s salad and Whataburger hamburgers also contain TBHQ. It’s used as an anti-oxidant in fats to maintain flavors and improve shelf life of foods.

It may be possible that the canola oil is treated with TBHQ, but Mondelez does not list TBHQ as an ingredient in any of the current Triscuit flavors. Good Thins is another brand of packaged crackers that are made without TBHQ (according to the package label, Good Thins are made with only rice flour, safflower oil, and salt).

We updated the report to include an image of the side of the Triscuit container.

Please always check the package labels of your purchased product as manufacturers may change their recipes and formulations without notice.
